A walk for justice on a sunny London evening
The 10th London Legal Walk that took place last week to raise funds in order to support charities that provide free legal advice was indeed an unmissable and truly unforgettable event.
More than 8,000 lawyers marched together in May 2014 including the Lord Chief Justice, The President of the Supreme Court, The Master of the Rolls, leaders of the Bar Council, the Law Society and CILEx, as well as the Attorney General. Kroll Ontrack’s team of 8 were very excited to participate.and together raised funds to help free legal advice centres that are a source of hope for those people who don’t have the means to pay for legal advice.
It was not what we would describe as a heavy workout itself, but a wonderful casual networking event. Lawyers from different firms and chambers, wearing t-shirts and trainers instead of formal suits and ties, could chat and have fun walking together as one down the sunny streets of London. Talking about the sunny streets, the weather was so nice and warm on that day, making the walk even more enjoyable!
In total, over half of a million pounds was raised by the participants and sponsors of the event. Taking into to consideration the fact that the free legal advice sector was hit by reductions in local authority funding and legal aid cuts, we really hope that the donated money will make a difference. We are all looking forward to walking the same route next year!
